Harbor Islands LNG Proposal Shelved
On the day before the March 8 hearing on legislation to convert Outer Brewster Island into the nation’s largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal and storage depot, MASSPIRG, along with coalition partners, announced that we have the votes to stop the proposal.

Gov. Romney Backs Out Of Global Warming Agreement
With Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and Lt. Gov. Kerry Healey conspicuously absent, the governors of seven Northeast states unveiled an agreement in December that will cut global warming pollution from the region’s power plants.

SAVE OUR HARBOR ISLANDS—MASSPIRG is working to protect the Boston Harbor Islands—a state park and national recreation area established in 1996. A private company is continuing to push for the lease of Outer Brewster Island in order to build a liquefied natural gas facility.
